      <image:caption>In 2017 4ROOM Interior store was represented showcasing 4ROOM luminaires, Estonian furniture makers Radis and Ra Sun and Finnish luminaire company Innolux. The setup was fresh, showing new colour and furniture trends of the industry and received noticeable attention. Although the exhibit sparked the interest of the visitors when analysing the results, it became clear the booth did not communicate well to the visitors – it lacked clear collective identity – visitors were not sure what the booth offered. The layout unintentionally urged the visitors to view the booth from afar, rendering them inaccessible for interacting with the sales staff. In this layout, there was room for only a few furniture products before space felt crowded.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>Understanding the expectations of the exhibiting companies and of the visitors of the interior fair while taking into account the analysis of the previous year’s experience, created strong guidelines for the design of the booth of 2018. Sketching the floor plan and considering different placements of the wall panels, the foundation presented itself clearly. Not only did it encourage visitors to interact with the booth area, creating active areas of interaction, but it also allowed for a lot more products to be presented without the booth feeling cluttered. For active sales, five members of the sales staff were available at all times, yet the layout didn’t make them obvious to the visitor and the booth didn’t ever feel overcrowded.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>Knowing what the visitors of the Interior fair come looking for in this event, the booth design aimed to reflect this. Colour scheme of the booth was intentionally more bold than the visitors dare to use themselves. The booth also held a small exhibition of a young Estonian illustrator Eili Lepik and on each day of the fair, there was an hour of meet-and-greet session with local furniture designers.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>Translating the trends into visual imagery to inspire the users of the trend books, requires a thorough understanding of the trend and what it stood for, but also an immense amount of creativity. How to form the research into something that visually communicates the trends and inspires designers in their own creation. Creating of the visuals is where the imagination was really set free. Cutting up vegetables to set these in composition only to spray-paint it white or heading to the nearby park to collect leaves, branches, and flowers to cover these in gold leaf was not only fun, I feel in this process I became more resourceful seeing opportunities where I previously hadn’t noticed them.</image:caption>

The amount of options in the filters is overwhelming and difficult to understand (for example in choosing the diameter, customers are left guessing the meaning of ≈600 vs 600). The lighting terminology doesn’t carry meaning for the customer. Choosing the colour from small swatches in a list is inconvenient, additionally, the number codes and indistinct descriptions only add noise. In the product pages there are 1832 products displayed on 51 pages.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>Nurses are highly educated and equipped medical personnel who, with the help of Amicus, are able to follow the patients’ whole treatment journeys and answer any questions the patients may have about it. This is not a big leap at all from what they are already managing today. Having a friendly voice and face supporting the patients during their journey adds trust for the patients. Amicus allows patients to be under the care of a dedicated nurse during their treatment journey who would also be the one to call the patient to inform them about their surgery time, welcome them on the day of the surgery and make a call appointment a day or two after the surgery to check on the patient and answer any remaining questions.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>In the ideation phase we worked closely together with experts from various related fields. During a week-long intense phase on the hospital premises our team met with actors from the Day Surgery department on various occasions, along with hospital management, the IT department, physiotherapists, ministry experts and service designers with previous experience in similar projects. Within that week we developed our main concept idea and got direct feedback to it from the hospital actors and experts in order to take the next steps to develop the idea further and finalise our design concept.</image:caption>

      <image:title>PERH Service design - Finding the focus</image:title>
      <image:caption>During the initial information gathering we were introduced to PERH and given a tour of the clinics. In our team of three students, we decided to focus on the day surgery clinic. PERH Day surgery clinic is fascinating as it operates differently from other clinics of the same hospital. In a way it can be viewed as a facility for surgeries — patients come in for surgical procedures that are performed by corresponding surgeons of the hospitals. The main requirement for surgery to be eligible for the clinic is that the patient can leave the hospital on the evening of the surgery. After a thorough tour of the clinic, we had a good overview to form our general understanding of the clinic and make first assessments on what to focus on in the interview process.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>We presented the concept at the annual EKA Design Showcase to the public and got a lot of positive feedback. Many representatives from other libraries were present as public libraries are currently facing similar challenges. The report received great interest because of this. We presented and handed over the full design report to the TalTech Library management, with their feedback being that the results of the project exceeded their expectations. They plan to develop their strategy taking into consideration the suggestions brought out in the report. Currently, the first goal of their strategy is to focus on developing user-friendly digital tools.</image:caption>
